My partner and I are planning on getting married, I am from the UK and he is Canadian and I know we have to register with the registrar in Canada as this is where I wish to be married. I have been told that their is more things I need to do after the wedding as I wont become a full citizen when married and have a further process to go through so what is the next thing I have to do to become a permanent resident.

My gf and I have been together 4 years, she’s 19, I’m 20, we want to get married without our parents finding out. (They will insist we finish school) we plan on getting married but still live at our own houses, however, what would this affect, our taxes? Or what would we need to do to completely keep it a secret?

I am just curious because I am not interested in getting married, but I would like to have a family. So I am just curious why so many people look down on couples having children, but not getting married?
Ryde. On: Why is not having the father around a problem? I know many women who work and take care of their children on their own, if the father chooses not to be around.
Thank you No More. Great explanation.

Im planning to pop the question to my girlfriend next month..And im scouting for cheap diamond rings..So what do women usually like for their engagement rings? Or do I have to ask her indiscreetly? Or just ask her friend instead?

I adore my engagement ring and have noticed that the underside of the band (not the top where the diamonds are, but the part that shows palm up) is turning yellow. Will my ring eventually do this on the top close to the diamonds? Will replating my ring destroy my diamonds or is there a way the jewler protects them when replating?

I am trying to pick out an engagement ring. My fingers, however, are chubby. I was wondering if anybody could give me advise on what styles of rings might look better.
What diamond cut will look best?
What type of band?
Band thickness?
Should the band have side stones?
How large should the center/main stone be?
Thanks! Will choose best answer!

Basically… What steps should the fiancees take before proposing? How does the engagement process work…? Like choosing the ring, talking to family, et cetera. And after the proposal what steps are taken to plan out a marriage? What kind of things do you need to think about when planning a wedding?
Do you start thinking about engagement, marriage, and honeymoon all at once before even proposing, typically?
If it helps, I am American and my current boyfriend is Filipino. Answers pertaining to either culture would be really appreciated. It’s so confusing!
